These are archives of mailing lists that Higgs Communications at one time maintained:
- Shared-TLD (This list is now closed.)
The Shared-TLD mailing list is historically significant in that it was the first discussion on the internet to explore using multiple registries to supply domain names from the same top level domain. While it successfully defined the registry/registrar role that dominates the domain name registration business today, the list was unable to gather consensus to split the registry load between peering databases. It was, however, one of the earliest attempts at building a true peer-to-peer network. The list was an offshoot of the IETF's unofficial Newdom working group (unnofficial because some of the driving concepts of Newdom were controversial). Many of the Internet's key engineering decision makers subscribed to this list.
